Arthur's
Rest

What an appropriate name for
comfortable and very welcoming Bed & Breakfast. Arthur's Rest is
an impressive building which was erected in the mid 1800's as a
barracks for the Royal Irish Constabulary. It has however been
thoroughly modernised and refurbished to a very high standard by its
owners Peggy & Kevin Murphy and now offers real home from home
comforts for guests. Arthur's Rest is a place where you can really
spread yourself and relax. In addition to the residents' lounge and
dining room with a separate sitting area, there is also a conservatory
and courtyard garden. The house has five guest rooms, all with
en-suite facilities, with one of them incorporating a single bedroom -
ideal for a group of three. Peggy's breakfasts are something to
relish, offering an extensive choice which includes, of course, the
famous Full Irish Breakfast. She bakes her own bread and scones each
day and should you feel a little peckish
during the day, these are always available.

The Murphys have also restored a lovely
old three storey stone corn loft beside Arthur's Rest, which offers
self catering for up to seven people and has stunning views of the
River Bannow from the top floor. They also have a lovely restored
fisherman's cottage on the Strand Road of Arthurstown which offers
comfortable self-catering for up to six people. Arthurstown itself is
ideally situated for exploring this historic corner of the Sunny
Southeast with the local car ferry at Ballyhack providing a short and
easy crossing to Waterford City, home of the world famous Waterford
Crystal. There are also excellent golfing and horse riding
facilities within a few minutes drive of Arthur's Rest.
